Dear Friend,

It has been a busy August work period and I've really enjoyed traveling around Georgia's Third Congressional District to hear directly from constituents about the issues that matter most to our community. Keep reading to see some of the district visits I've made over the past few weeks.

I stopped by Thunderwood Farms in Woodbury to visit and tour their perennial plants operation. Thank you to Lanie and Gray Riner for having me, and for the insightful discussion about current challenges in the farming business.

It was great to visit Lily Hill Farm — a cattle farm in Troup County — and talk with owners Avery and Marc Wrigglesworth. We toured the farm and discussed the real challenges they face due to federal regulations in their cattle farming process. Below are a few pictures from the tour:

Last week, I attended the grand opening of the historic Ralston towers. The event marked a major transformation — and a new beginning — for affordable housing in the Columbus community. It took the efforts of local, state, and federal officials, and I’m proud to see this major success. Below are pictures from the grand opening event:

Budget Committee Health Care Task Force

House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington recently announced that the Committee has launched a new Budget Committee Health Care Task Force — and I’m proud to be appointed to this new Task Force. The goal of this Task Force is to find solutions to reduce health care spending, examine opportunities to modernize and personalize the health care system, and support policies to fuel innovation and increase patient access to quality and affordable care. Members of the Task Force will convene with experts and stakeholders from across the health care sector to examine the root causes of out-of-control spending and proposals to reduce health care costs and improve the United States’ health care system.

More jobs coming to our community! Last week, Governor Kemp announced that Daesol Ausys Georgia will invest $72 million for a new manufacturing facility in West Point. This new facility will create 140 new jobs in Harris County!

REAL ID Deadline Extended

Attention travelers — there's no need to panic if you haven't gotten your REAL ID-compliant identification card yet!

The Department of Homeland Security has extended the REAL ID full enforcement date to May 7, 2025. Beginning then, every traveler 18 years of age or older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another TSA-acceptable form of identification at airport security checkpoints for domestic air travel. To obtain a REAL ID, you'll need to show proof of a certified birth certificate. Click here for more information.
