SPIRIT OF VIRGINIA AGAIN

Friend,
Randi Weingarten fought against efforts to return children to classrooms.
Weingarten threatened a teachers union strike if schools reopened. She called
plans to end school closures “reckless” and “cruel.”
And just this week
<[link removed]>, Randi
Weingarten is campaigning with the far left in Virginia... again. We all
remember Terry McAuliffe –who said <[link removed]>
parents shouldn’t have a say in what their kids are learning –rallying with
Weingarten
<[link removed]>
just before he lost to Glenn Youngkin in 2021.
Now, even as our children continue to feel the impact of Weingarten’s rhetoric
and policies about keeping schools closed, out-of-touch politicians are
inviting her to campaign events ahead of this November’s elections.
This is an insult to Virginia parents, who are still struggling to undo the
learning loss their children suffered when they were forced to stay home in
front of a computer screen rather than return to school with their classmates
long after we knew it was safe.
While the far left continues to stand alongside Randi Weingarten, Glenn
Youngkin has stood with parents and their kids against the extreme politics and
policies pushed by the teachers' unions.
Just after taking office, Youngkin ended the mask mandate in Virginia schools,
giving parents the right to make decisions concerning the care of their
children.
Youngkin has given parents more control over their children’s curriculum, more
transparency into what’s going on at school, and the head seat of the table in
their children’s education.
This is the choice in this critical election in just a couple of months when
every seat in the General Assembly is on the ballot.
Do we follow the lead of Randi Weingarten when it comes to education policy in
Virginia?
Or do we continue to recognize that children belong to parents and their
families, not to the state or the teachers' unions?
We think the choice is clear. Let’s send the message once again this November
that we stand with parents in Virginia, not Randi Weingarten.
