We’ve been informing you about the legal battle between the Ultra-MAGA Republicans in Alabama and the courts that keep finding their congressional maps unconstitutional. The courts made it clear the last time they threw out Alabama’s map that they expected a new one to have two majority African-American majority districts. When Alabama lawmakers finally presented their new map in court, there was still only just one.

The three judges that evaluated that new map were, unsurprisingly, not impressed:


“The State enacted a map that the State readily admits does not provide the remedy we said federal law requires."
We’re happy to see a lower court side with the democratic principle of “one man, one vote.” But this battle isn’t over yet. The Alabama GOP knows that in normal circumstances, there’s no way they can ever get a map without two African-American majority districts approved. But they’re betting that these are not normal times and that this Supreme Court is so corrupt they’ll side with Alabama Republicans no matter what.

That’s why we need to be vigilant and continue to grow our pro-democracy cause. Forward this email to three friends today who you know are concerned about the state of democracy in our country. And tell them to join Operation 147.
