Here in Southwest Virginia, organized labor has been the backbone of our region's economy. The success and strength of our future lies in the hands of hard-working individuals, and yesterday our future got brighter in Blacksburg. Two union-affiliated coalitions went public at Virginia Tech; the United Campus Workers at Virginia Tech [[link removed]] , and the Virginia Tech Graduate Labor Union [[link removed]] . As a small business owner for 20 years, I recognize the tremendous contributions labor unions have made for workers across Virginia. Organized labor has improved wages, working conditions, and job security for millions of people.
I am committed to standing with workers for better compensation and job security, and as our Senator I will prioritize an affordable cost of living for SWVA workers [[link removed]] .
