A win for the Boundary Waters
This month we celebrated a success for the Boundary Waters. On February 5th, the House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on Rep. Betty McCollum’s bill, “The Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act,” in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. McCollum's bill would permanently remove the threat of sulfide-ore mining in the watershed of the BWCAW and establish the protections needed to keep two national treasures - the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Voyageurs National Park - pristine for generations to come. New Star Tribune Poll: Minnesotans do not want mining near the Boundary Waters
Yesterday the Star Tribune/MPR released a new poll showing that by nearly 3 to 1 Minnesotans do not want mining near the Boundary Waters. This affirms other polling that has consistently shown over the years that Minnesotans oppose threats to America’s most visited Wilderness.
