Dear John,

The National Institute for Reproductive Health and the NIRH Action Fund are proud to announce a new 17-state initiative [[link removed]], which will work to forge meaningful abortion access, address worsening pregnancy-related mortality, and create solutions that mitigate the harm caused by abortion bans.

NIRH’s work, in partnership with state and local advocates, resulted in record numbers [[link removed]] of states and localities passing reproductive health care funding initiatives. In year two of a post-Roe reality, this 17-state initiative builds on our work nationwide to address gaps in reproductive health and rights that disproportionately impact people of color, people with low incomes, women, and other marginalized communities. Two-thirds of NIRH initiatives are led by reproductive justice organizations and organizations whose leaders are Black, Indigenous, and people of color, the experts in the communities disproportionately impacted by abortion bans and by the worsening pregnancy-related mortality and morbidity crises. NIRH believes investing in work that centers the people and communities most harmed by bans, restrictions, and inequitable access to care will lead to meaningful and long-term improvements in health outcomes for everyone.
