When we helped to elect Justice Janet Protasiewicz in Wisconsin, it marked a historic day for our movement, Wisconsin, and our democracy.

That day, an overwhelming majority of Wisconsin voters flipped the majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. They chose to be represented by a Justice who will not put politics over the freedoms guaranteed by our democracy.

But since Justice Protasiewicz was sworn into office last month, Republicans have threatened an unprecedented and dangerous way to usurp power: Impeaching Justice Protasiewicz.

This is a direct attempt by the GOP to undercut the voice of Wisconsinites and undermine a coequal branch of government — a blatant attempt to keep their heavily gerrymandered districts and Wisconsin’s draconian anti-abortion laws alive.

Republicans in the State legislature have indicated that they would support impeaching her, and with their majority in the Assembly and supermajority in the Senate, it's a real threat.

This is a desperate power grab and an attack on our democracy. And we must do all we can to mobilize and organize to prevent these undemocratic stunts.
