The kids went back to school last week, and it’s been two months since I announced my candidacy for Congress. Since Joe Biden got elected, inflation has reached historic levels, gas prices have nearly doubled, the deficit has climbed $5 trillion, violent crime has skyrocketed, our Southern border is in crisis, and fentanyl is now the number one killer of Americans ages 18-45. Meanwhile, our schools have become a battlefield for the culture wars and our justice system has one set of laws for Republicans, and no set of laws for Democrats. It's getting harder to make ends meet, and it seems like no one is standing up for us. But now I’m running against her hand-picked successor, Curtis Hertel, Jr., in an “open seat” that is already ranked the most competitive district in the nation. While I spent 22 years serving our country in the U.S. Army, my opponent spent 22 years as a career politician. Hopping from office to office, he became Gretchen Whitmer’s top ally in the Senate, and once he was forced out by term limits, she made him her top lobbyist, pushing through the most radical overhaul of state government in Michigan history. Curtis is a self-described progressive who voted to give your tax dollars to a Chinese Communist-owned corporation, voted to raise your taxes, and supports a 45 cent per gallon gas tax. He’s a longtime Democratic Party insider with endorsements from Governor Whitmer, Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Congresswoman Slotkin. He is the swamp.
