Friends — Over the course of this year, we’ve seen a travesty of historic proportions unfold before us around the U.S. Supreme Court.

The blatant disregard for judicial ethics and the public trust has exposed the GOP’s and conservative Right’s corruption and further eroded the legitimacy of the Court. Justices and their families are using the Court to enrich themselves while leaving the American people in the dark.

As part of an extremist majority on the Court, Justice Clarence Thomas helped lead our country down a dangerous path of judicial far-right partisanship, as we are learning at the same time he was accepting tens of millions of dollars of undisclosed compensation — in the form of gifts, lavish vacations, private retreats, home improvements, and even private school tuition — from a high profile Republican mega-donor. It’s unacceptable, and we’re calling on Justice Thomas to resign.

Ed will use his seat in the Senate to do everything he can to hold the entire Court accountable through important judicial reforms such as a code of ethics and expansion. But in the meantime, it’s up to us to make it clear that a strong majority of the public is sick of this kind of corruption and unethical behavior from the highest court in our nation.
