KING AND PRIEST ~ Hezekiah, King of Judah & the prophet, Isaiah
What if I told you that you could invite your church pastor to a free event to learn all about what’s happening in Texas on issues that impact Christians? Or what if I told you that you, if you are a pastor yourself, could come to Austin for this event and meet like-minded pastors from all over Texas to learn together on these issues? And what if I told you that Texas Values has a wonderful effort just for pastors, would you be interested? This year at our annual Texas Values Policy Forum on September 15-16 we will have specific focus on the Church Ambassador Network of Texas (TXCAN – a project of Texas Values) so you can learn all about this amazing opportunity for the body of Christ in Texas. We still have some limited FREE tickets for pastors, for this event (Contact Juda Kunze). And we still have tickets available for the general public. (Register HERE.)
Now on to this month’s message. As I think about the Church Ambassador Network of Texas (TXCAN) building relationships with our legislators over time I think of King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet. In 2 Kings 18, it says King Hezekiah “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that David his Father had done.” He removed all the idols and even the bronze serpent that Moses had made because people were still making offerings to it. It also says, “He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him.”
At the same time, King Hoshea, of Israel was taken by the Assyrians. 2 Kings 18:12 says, “because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed his covenant…they neither listened nor obeyed.”
As you know, the story is not over, but the relationships between shepherds of the church and shepherds of government are critical as we seek to help them be “ministers for good”. (Romans 13:4) Please be praying how you can get involved in this ministry. During the next special session in October, on the 10th & 11th, The Church Ambassador Network of Texas will be taking pastors to the Capitol to share the gospel, first of all, to encourage them in their work ahead with the 3rd special session and finally, to pray for them and their families.
The Church Ambassador Network of Texas will also be gearing up to visit legislators in their local offices, scheduling legislators and pastors around the state. Come join us! As a pastor, if you want to learn more, come to the Policy Forum Saturday morning at 9am at Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin and share coffee and breakfast tacos from Rudy’s. Some of our pastors who have been to the Capitol will be sharing their experiences.
Then….later that morning there will be a special panel about the Church Ambassador Network which will further give you an understanding of what we are about. The first time I came to the Policy Forum I was blown away with how much knowledge and understanding I left with. You will too!
BLESSINGS,
Pastor Tovar & Juda
