Friend, hope you had a good Labor Day weekend.

In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution ahead of this month’s FEC deadline. Please give me a chance to explain why that request is so important.

The FEC requires us to file a quarterly report — once every three months. September is one of those months, so when it ends we're legally required to report not just how much money we've raised, but how many donations we've received.

Here's why that deadline is so important:

1. Because everyone — our allies and our opponents, the talking heads, the party bosses — will be watching to see what we report to the FEC after this deadline.

2. Because a bad report is an opportunity for our opponents. It could cause early attack ads to start coming our way from Kyrsten Sinema, the GOP, Kari Lake, even Blake Masters and his MAGA pals.

3. Because a good report shows the strength of our campaign. Important figures who can help us out are waiting in the wings to endorse, and if we put up a big number we can convince them to join us.

This is the most important month of the campaign so far. Not exaggerating. And we need every single person reading this to know and understand that. So please, to start this FEC deadline month of strong:

Can I count on you to use this link and contribute $3 to my campaign today? $3 might not sound like the kind of money that can win a campaign. But you’re not making that donation alone. Thousands of people will join you. We just need you to take that first step.

Thank you in advance for chipping in. This means a lot.
