A federal court just struck down the latest Alabama congressional map that was designed to dilute Black voting power.

In case you need a refresher, Alabama Republican lawmakers submitted a map this summer that the Supreme Court struck down, arguing that it violated the Voting Rights Act by racially gerrymandering congressional districts.

Then, the Court ordered them to draw a new map that included at least two majority-Black districts — an order that Alabama Republicans openly defied, instead submitting another racist map, which brings us to today.

Now, after this second strike, the court will draw the map themselves to ensure Black Alabamians are fairly represented.

Folks, our grantees in Alabama have been rallying for a transparent, accountable redistricting process since this case made its way to the Supreme Court last year, and now, thanks to support from this grassroots team, the hard work is paying off.
