Ted Cruz's desire for attention and validation knows no bounds. But we're truly scratching our heads over this one, John.
In an interview with conservative outlet Newsmax last week, Cruz, with a Shiner Bock in hand and cosplaying as a tough guy, fumed at the Biden administration, accusing it of seeking to limit Americans’ alcohol consumption to just two beers a week.

Now, you're probably wondering what on earth Ted is talking about. We were too because no such plan exists.
But we do know where this made-up crisis came from. Last week, the British tabloid the Daily Mail asked the director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism what potential changes may come to the drinking level guidelines in 2025. The guidelines are exactly that — recommendations, not a mandate.
Unsurprisingly, Fox News and the right-wing misinformation machine took it from there and twisted the story to make it something it literally wasn’t. That still didn’t stop Cruz and others on the right from taking the story out of context to make this utterly absurd leap.
From his transphobic attacks on one-time Bud Light spokesperson Dylan Mulvaney to his completely manufactured beer guideline crisis, it’s clear that beer plays a critical role in Ted’s life — which is why we’re mobilizing to Lose Cruz next year so our part-time senator can enjoy as much beer as he’d like — in retirement.
