John,
We all have our reasons for wanting to end fossil fuels. For some, it’s to protect water, wildlife, and ecosystems from dangerous oil drilling. For others, it’s to protect people’s wellbeing.
For me, it’s to stop the deadly heatwaves, wildlife smoke, and flooding made worse by fossil fuels.
If we want to save life on Earth and stop the climate crisis, one thing’s for certain: We need to act together, calling on President Biden and other global leaders to phase out fossil fuels.
Biden’s climate track record is disappointing. From Alaska to Appalachia, the Biden administration has approved permit after permit, pipeline after pipeline, while propping up the corporations that value their bottom line over the planet’s future. We’re out of time — which is why we’re taking action.
On September 17, a few days before the UN’s Climate Ambition Summit in New York City, we have a unique opportunity to gather in the streets of the city and demand that Biden end approvals of fossil fuel projects, phase out oil and gas production on federal lands, and declare a climate emergency. He needs to hear from us that the planet can’t take any more abuse from fossil fuel development.
Thousands of people from across the country have already committed to joining the March to End Fossil Fuels in NYC. We’ll be meeting at 56th St. and Broadway in Manhattan at 1 p.m., and the mobilization — set to be the largest since the pandemic — will go until 4 p.m.
I’d like to officially invite you to come to New York on the 17th. Can I count on you to be there?
Join the march to demand a just, livable future for all of us.
Sincerely,
