Jack, with four consecutive victories for Democratic presidential candidates, two Democratic U.S. senators, and a handful of Democratic members of Congress, Virginia has garnered a reputation as being a blue state.

Unfortunately, that's not reflected on the state level. In 2021, Republicans took control of both the state House and the governorship.

Republicans are hoping not only for a repeat of 2021, but to make gains in the senate and take control. If Republicans pick up just two more senate seats, far-right and Ron DeSantis-wannbe Gov. Glenn Youngkin and his party will have full control of Virginia’s governance. Youngkin will have free reign to pass his far-right policies, including an abortion ban he has been pushing for ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

We can stop Youngkin's agenda and drive a stake into the Republican dream of restricting abortion rights in Virginia. To do this, we only need to flip three seats to take back the House and hold onto the Senate.

The good news, this is a very achievable goal. There's a strong slate of candidates running under the Democratic banner this fall.
