Hi friend,
I'm Garlin Gilchrist II, Michigan's Lieutenant Governor and chair of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association (DLGA).
I am reaching out because we are gearing up for a new election cycle. With so much work to be done to protect our Democratic-held statehouses and elect more Democratic lieutenant governors, I am asking you to join our team and help us win big from coast to coast!
My fellow Democratic lieutenant governors and I make up the most diverse group of statewide elected officials in the country. There are currently Democratic lieutenant governors in 24 states and 3 U.S. territories, from every walk of life. And these leaders are the Democratic bench – Lieutenant governors frequently continue on to serve as governors, senators, members of Congress, and other important roles.
I am a Detroit native, software developer, organizer, problem-solver, and the first Black person to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Michigan. I am excited for you to meet some of my colleagues in the coming weeks and months as we introduce you to the next generation of Democratic leadership. They are leading on every issue, from pandemic response to education to criminal justice reform.
The DLGA provides resources, policy, and political support to Democratic candidates in their campaigns for lieutenant governor. There are three lieutenant gubernatorial seats on the ballot in 2023 and nine more lieutenant gubernatorial seats on the ballot in 2024. And we have a plan to re-elect our all-star incumbents and flip LG seats from red to blue.
So, I'm here to ask: Will you join our mission to elect more Democratic lieutenant governors and flip states from red to blue?
We have seen time and time again, the power of state leaders to impact the everyday lives of the American people. My colleagues and I are eager to work with grassroots supporters like you to ensure we can continue doing this work, so I hope you'll stick around to be a part of this winning team.
Thanks for reading. We'll be in touch soon with more.
