Global Emergency Response Fund
Help us raise $300,000 to provide critical aid to people affected by the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
Dear friend,

Two years ago in August 2021, members of our Haiti team stood amid piles of rubble, surveying homes and businesses that were destroyed by the catastrophic 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

More than 12,000 people were reported injured, 2,000 were dead, and 140,000 buildings were in ruins. The flooding and landslides that followed made emergency efforts even more urgent and challenging.

As Mercy Corps’ Haiti Country Director, I feel extremely proud of how our local team members, many of whom were broken-hearted themselves from the losses they had experienced, mobilized immediately to help the roughly 800,000 people who needed assistance.

Mercy Corps team members deliver supplies in preparation for kit distributions to communities impacted by the Haiti earthquake.
Since 2021, Haiti has struggled to rebuild amidst an intensifying crisis complicated by ongoing gang violence. The overall situation in Haiti is catastrophic. Today, an estimated 5.2 million people, or close to half of the entire population, require humanitarian assistance, including almost three million children.

Despite serious obstacles, Mercy Corps team members courageously work to provide cash assistance so families can put food on the table and purchase necessary supplies. We are also helping Haitians who rely on agriculture for their livelihoods to learn techniques for building resilience to climate shocks and other disasters.
