Miniumum-wage rates adjusted for inflation as of Jan. 1, 2024

Minnesota's minimum-wage rates will be adjusted for inflation on Jan. 1, 2024, to $10.85 an hour for large employers and $8.85 an hour for other state minimum wages.

"Increasing the minimum-wage rates gives the lowest-wage workers in Minnesota more earning power as they work hard to support themselves and their families," said Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Nicole Blissenbach.

Youth Skills Training grant recipients announced

Youth Skills Training grants have been awarded to five partnerships that will each receive and split $500,000 to be used for programs that offer safe, meaningful work experience for students in high-demand industries. View more about the grant recipients.


Nursing Home Workforce Standards Board first meeting is Sept. 14, executive director named

The Nursing Home Workforce Standards Board, which was created in law during the 2023 legislative session to set minimum standards necessary to protect the health and welfare of nursing home workers, will conduct its first meeting at 2 p.m., Sept. 14, at the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. The Minnesota State Building Code is minimum construction standard throughout all of Minnesota. Although it is not enforceable by municipalities unless it is adopted by local ordinance, it creates a level playing field for the construction industry by establishing the it as the standard for the construction of all buildings in the state. Fall Seminar offered online and in-person

The Construction Codes and Licensing Division's (CCLD) Fall Seminar will focus on recent legislative and rulemaking updates and code requirements for townhomes. The seminar is offered in-person and remotely throughout September and October. Learn more and register for the seminar.

Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance will host its next free Construction Seminar, "Health hazards in construction," at 7 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, in person and virtually. MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online

Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.

For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2022, MNOSHA has investigated 21 fatalities through Aug. 29.

The information provided about each investigation is:? the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
