Happy Labor Day, John.
I’ve been standing up for California’s workers and working families for my whole life — they’ve always had my back, and I will always have theirs.
That’s why I kicked off my U.S. Senate campaign at the IATSE Local 80 union hall in Burbank — which is also where I kicked off my first Congressional campaign.
It’s why I’ve stood on the picket line alongside SEIU, WGA, UNITE HERE, SAG-AFTRA, and other labor unions just this year alone.
It’s why I’m so proud to have the support of the California International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, California Nevada International Union of Operating Engineers, California Amalgamated Transit Union, as well as California’s IATSE council. Not to mention another dozen local unions.
It’s why I’ve been a vocal champion of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which helps unionizing workers, providing them protections when bargaining for better wages, benefits, and safer workplaces. In the Senate, I’ll do everything I can to pass this legislation — including abolishing the filibuster.
Unions built the middle class and deserve a fighter in California’s next U.S. Senator. That’s how we create an economy that works for everyone.
I’m a loud and proud supporter of the labor movement, and I’ll leave you with this thought as you enjoy Labor Day:
If you appreciate weekends, paid leave and vacation, health benefits, overtime pay, minimum wage, sick leave, lunch hours, and more, take some time this Labor Day and thank a union. Their fight for workers made it possible. And their fight continues.
Once again, happy Labor Day.
