Team,
Labor Day marks a time of rest and a celebration of the American labor movement. It invites us to reflect on generations of the relentless activism unions and union workers put in to give us the wages, benefits, and power that have sustained our country.
This is personal to me. I was raised in a working-class immigrant family. My career – becoming a first-generation college graduate, a labor rights attorney, and a sitting Congresswoman for California’s 38th District – are all fruits of my parents’ labor.
These days, I am inspired to action by workers across the country demanding their fair share amidst Republican opposition and legislative attacks. Millions of workers are seeing the impacts of rising costs and stagnant wages, and it demands urgent attention.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it a million times: I’ll never stop fighting for the working class.
I am proud to be a founding member of the Labor Caucus. As your Congresswoman, I’m working every day to improve working conditions and protect workers’ rights in our community and across the country.
On this Labor Day, I want to send my sincere thanks to workers across the country who keep us moving forward.
Happy Labor Day!
Linda
