It’s not just a Labor Day, John, it’s a Labor YEAR.
In the last 12 months we’ve seen over 400 strikes — where hotel workers, health care workers, writers, actors, and more have taken to the picket lines to demand better pay, better benefits, and better working conditions for all.
Workers create value. They are the lifeblood of every company, and it is the labor of workers that makes the economy go ‘round. But CEOs and stockholders are hoarding profits for themselves — while workers are left with a smaller and smaller piece of the pie.
That’s where unions come in. Unions build power for working people, protect workers, and help close the wealth inequality gap. That’s why we firmly believe in the right to organize.
So today on Labor Day, we’re launching a new video to talk about the importance of workers coming together, across our differences, to demand better working conditions for all. And we’re including a guide for any worker who wants to unionize their workplace.
