When I first decided to run for Congress, people doubted that this team had what it would take to win. No Democrat had ever been elected to represent Washington's 8th district, dark money groups spent millions to beat us, and unlike my Republican opponent, I wasn't accepting a dime of corporate PAC money.
But grassroots supporters like you rallied around this campaign and our shared vision of expanding access to affordable healthcare, fighting climate change, and protecting women's reproductive rights. Together, we built a powerful movement that flipped this district and helped take back the House.
What we accomplished together was incredible, but with November getting closer and closer, Republican super PACs and special interest groups will be redoubling their efforts to take back the 8th district, so I need you to stand with me again.
We set a goal of raising $20,000 before midnight on Saturday to help us fight back against any GOP attacks that come our way. Will you chip in $5 or more to help us get there?
Just a month after I was sworn in, the National Republican Congressional Committee named our district as one of their top targets for 2020. They know this seat is crucial if they are going to win back the majority in the House. We can't let that happen.
With a target on this district, we can expect more of what we saw in 2018 -- attack ads spreading lies about me and this campaign -- so we're anticipating that this will be another tough race.
We were able to take on the national Republicans in 2018 and win, and I know we can do it again in November. But to do it, I need your help.
