Happy Labor Day, John!

Up until the 19th century, there were few protections established to keep America’s workers safe from dangerous working conditions.

If you appreciate safe working conditions, the end of child labor in America, or simply the concept of the weekend, today is the day to thank the men and women of organized labor.

It's thanks to the courage and dedication of labor unions that the tide turned and workplaces became safer for everyone. The labor movement brought us the 40-hour work week, the weekend, paid overtime, and so much more.

Today is the day that we say thank you to these labor heroes. Today, we reflect on how far we've come, and the distance we still have to go.

We must strive to do more to improve working conditions and strengthen benefits for all our workers. When our unions are strong, our workers are strong, and when our workers are strong, so is America.

Sincerely,

Chris Coons
