Happy Labor Day, john!

Today is more than just a well-deserved day off. Let’s remember, the reason we have days off work, like holidays and weekends, is because of the labor movement.

My mom was a unionized public school teacher. I remember when she joined with her union to negotiate for increased school funding, smaller class sizes, and improved benefits–including a union-negotiated pension and health insurance, which my parents continue to rely on. She showed me – in words and deeds – the power of collective bargaining and the importance of her union.

I am so grateful for what the labor movement has accomplished for workers here in Washington State and across the country, fighting for better wages, working conditions, and benefits.

On this Labor Day, I hope you’ll join me in honoring working people and the unions who represent them, like my mom’s did. Let’s remain mindful of the role of labor unions in growing and sustaining this country’s middle class. Tomorrow, let's get back to work fighting alongside them for a better future.

Thank you,

Kim

To win back the House majority, we must re-elect Rep. Kim Schrier in WA-08. Will you chip in to protect Kim's seat and reclaim the House majority in 2024?
