UAW Family,
My grandpa Fain was born in Kentucky. During the Great Depression, he moved to Indiana and got a job at Chrysler.
That job changed his life. But that didn’t just magically happen. It happened because of the UAW. He and his coworkers came together, they organized, and they won a better way of life.
For Labor Day, I want to share that story with you in this video. Not so we can sit back and look at our history, but so we can be inspired to build a better future.
All of us in the UAW are showing that our union is back in the fight:
A Gallup poll last week showed that 75 percent of Americans back UAW members in our negotiations with the Big Three. Only 19 percent side with the companies.
After years of retreat, we are moving forward.
No matter what you’re doing this Labor Day — whether you’re out on the porch grilling burgers or at a practice picket walking the line — know that we have real reason to celebrate.
The UAW is back in the fight and we are ready to win!
In Solidarity,
Shawn Fain
UAW President
