Happy Labor Day, folks!
Today is a recognition of the hardworking men and women who built our country and a chance to appreciate everything we have because of the labor movement.
Before coming to Congress, I spent my entire adult life as a labor activist, fighting to get hardworking people the pay and workplace safety conditions they deserve.
I’m proud to have worked on behalf of firefighters, first responders, meatpackers, and grocery store workers to ensure they have the power to collectively bargain for better wages, benefits, and safer working conditions.
Union jobs are the backbone of the middle class and essential to strong and thriving communities.
I am committed to working with all of my colleagues in Congress to champion workers' rights for people in Central and Southern Illinois and across the country.
Earlier this year, I was proud to sign on as co-sponsor of the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act – comprehensive bipartisan legislation to protect workers’ right to come together and bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer workplaces.
So in honor of Labor Day, I hope you’ll join me in standing up for organized labor and protecting hardworking families by adding your name to my petition to call on my colleagues in Congress to join me in passing the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act >>
Thank you for standing with me in this fight.
