But we're also an At-Will State and I can be fired at any time? Right-to-Work laws have nothing to do with protecting employees from termination but everything to do with undermining Unions.
I'm running for Congress in Oklahoma's 1st District to stop MAGA politicians like Rep Kevin Hern who are anti-Union and always standing on the side of big business and voting against workers - no matter the issue and no matter if the rights of workers are being violated.
MAGA Rep. Kevin Hern told us he would never be on the side of working families when he voted NO to the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. He defended his NO vote by lashing out at Teachers' Unions and stating his support of Right-to-Work laws.
Hern never mentioned that Right-to-Work laws undermine Unions' financing and ability to organize. Hern never mentioned that the Bottom 10 States with the lowest personal income per capita includes Oklahoma and that all are Right-to-Work States except one. Hern never mentioned that the Top 10 States with the highest personal income per capita are all States that do not have Right-to-Work laws.
This campaign is about moving us forward by getting rid of laws holding us back - like the deceptively named Right-to-Work law that undermines the right to organize and bargain for better wages. We'll work to ensure the passage of the PRO Act so employers can't delay union elections through litigation or force employees to attend "captive audience" anti-Union meetings. We'll support the PRO Act provisions that reinstate employees who have been illegally retaliated against and prohibits employers from permanently replacing striking workers.
If Unions are so bad and Right-to-Work laws so good, then why is Oklahoma among the Bottom 10 States with the lowest personal income per capita? Why is Oklahoma the 4th Highest State with the most people on food stamps? America's democracy is stronger when America has a strong middle class and the best way to rebuild our middle class is by building back our Unions.
I'm running for Congress because Oklahoma should be among the Top 10 States with the highest personal income per capita and among the Top 10 States with the fewest people on food stamps. To get there, we need strong Unions. I want Oklahoma moving forward - not at the bottom of every metric that matters. Together we can stop Oklahoma's Top 2 MAGA politicians - Ryan Walters who is destroying our public schools and Kevin Hern who is undermining our Unions.
