Happy Labor Day, John!

Today, we’re celebrating the invaluable contributions of labor unions and all they have done to support the dignity of workers.

Labor unions are foundational to Northwest Indiana’s economy. Throughout our nation’s history, they have been a driving force of progress for creating safe working conditions, providing access to health care, a solid retirement, and strengthening workers' rights. They do more than build our infrastructure, build our economy, and build up our national defense — they have built our communities.

I’ll always do everything I can to help bring more good-paying, union jobs to Northwest Indiana and support working families. And you have my commitment to work as hard as all of our union brothers and sisters do every day to grow our regional economy.

That’s why I’m proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act of 2023, legislation that will modernize our nation’s labor laws and ensure all workers have the ability to collectively bargain and form unions.
