Happy Labor Day! Today is a special day for my family and the many other proud union households across the country, so I wanted to take a moment today to share my story with you.

My story is a Wisconsin story — one that wouldn’t be possible without my parents’ union jobs. I don’t come from a wealthy or well-connected family. I grew up in Milwaukee in a proud union household.

My grandfather worked as a steelworker at A.O. Smith after he came back from World War II. My dad worked 3rd shift at the GM factory. My mom was a public school teacher.

Those jobs were our ticket into the middle class. A job that lets you pay down your mortgage and put some money away to get you through tough times. A job that lets your kids go to college if they want to or lets you take care of your parents when they get sick without worrying about putting food on the table.

Those are the jobs that built our middle class and made me who I am today.

Middle and working-class Americans are exactly who President Biden has been fighting for. People like you and me who are working to support their families.

It’s no secret that President Biden, a son of Scranton, is the most pro-union, pro-worker president of our lifetimes.

He understands working people are the backbone of our economy, believes in and supports the power of collective action and organizing, and has created thousands of good paying union jobs across the country.

President Biden is actively investing in our communities and prioritizing working Americans by investing in our infrastructure and bringing manufacturing home to the U.S. The historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal is creating good paying union jobs, growing our economy equitably, and investing in communities that have been too often left behind.

He has said himself, “The middle class built America, and unions built the middle class!” And he stands by that sentiment.

On this Labor Day, I am asking you to join me in supporting a leader who supports us and working families all over the country.

So, if you can, please split a contribution between President Biden’s reelection campaign and The Long Run today. Let’s show our support for the most pro-union president in history.
