My dad worked as a union pipefitter welder and my mom in the local school district. They worked hard so my siblings and I would have the opportunity to succeed.
That’s the American dream. You work hard to provide a good life for your children, and help them reach goals that might have been out of reach for yourself -- then you can retire with dignity.
But Trump wants to take this away. He’s proposed massive cuts to Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare. My parents paid into Social Security so they could retire. They had the peace of mind that they’d be protected -- and be able to protect their children -- because of the safety nets of Medicaid and Medicare.
