Happy Labor Day, John! On this day may we have one last cookout, wear our
whites, take one more trip up north, and enjoy much needed family time. But
let's not forget that today we celebrate the true heartbeat of our state and
nation: its workers. As we take a moment to reflect on the monumental
contributions of Michigan's workforce, I am reminded of the values instilled in
me by my own family and upbringing.

Happy Labor Day, John!
On this day may we have one last cookout, wear our whites, take one more trip
up north, and enjoy much needed family time. But let's not forget that today we
celebrate the true heartbeat of our state and nation: its workers. As we take a
moment to reflect on the monumental contributions of Michigan's workforce, I am
reminded of the values instilled in me by my own family and upbringing.
Growing up in a tight-knit, middle-class Midwestern family, I learned the
power of hard work, perseverance, and community. My mother, a dedicated nurse,
taught me the importance of caring for others. Equally influential was my
father, a manufacturing representative, who showed me the intricacies of the
industrial landscape. Through his experiences, I witnessed firsthand the
dedication of our nation's workers to producing quality goods and driving
innovation.
As we celebrate Labor Day, let's honor the legacy of the many industries that
put Michigan on the map--like the auto industry--and remember the sacrifices so
many made to get us to where we are now. These unions have been the driving
force behind workers' rights, fair wages, and safer workplaces.
Michigan's workers are the backbone of our state's success, and it's time
their contributions are fully recognized and supported.
Happy Labor Day to all!
