Dear John, I hope you can take a moment and kick back on this sunny Labor Day and when you do, please remember that tradesmen, laborers and so many others have made America the dynamic industrial powerhouse that it is today. You can thank a worker for our prosperity.
Now it’s time for you to stand with our union friends to ensure that wage protection laws remain on the books and the minimum wage in Virginia continues to increase to $15.00 an hour. Democrats passed these bills when we enjoyed a trifecta in Richmond and now we must ensure that these policies are not rolled back by the Republicans.
Please donate what you can so I can help Democratic Senators in targeted races. Each of our seven targeted races is within the margin of error and our candidates need resources so they can keep communicating with voters. Any donation will help. |
I will be returning to Richmond Tuesday evening for a special session on Wednesday to adopt amendments to the 2022 biennium budget. Fortunately, the Democratic Senate conferees held firm on investments in education and human services. We reallocated Governor Youngkin’s behavioral health dollars to place a greater emphasis on prevention services and children’s access to mental health services.
These amendments are not perfect but overall I believe the spending allocations on core services are meaningful enough to accept compromises on the tax cuts that the Governor has been pushing. I will give you more highlights when I return from Richmond.
Thank you for you on-going support. |
