Dear Friend,
Labor Day is a day that means so much to me personally, and as a Democrat.
I grew up in a working class family in Central Mass. My father was a union lineman and my mom was a receptionist at our local elementary school. When my dad was locked out or on strike, times were tough. But his union provided for our family — they kept us fed and paid our bills until he was back at work.
Massachusetts has such a rich history in the labor movement that continues to this day. From groundbreaking worker protections to national leadership in the labor movement, our Commonwealth leads on labor.
Let’s not forget, the Democratic Party is the party of working people and retirees. We stand for fair wages, safe working conditions, and good benefits. We fight for justice, fairness, and equity. We will always put people before corporations.
Today, please join me in recognizing all who have come before us and those who continue the fight day in and day out. Let’s strive to protect the rights and security of working families everywhere.
Happy Labor Day!
In solidarity,
