Did you catch last night’s debate? Not the one in South Carolina—the one here in Colorado, among the Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate.
Don’t feel bad if you missed it; John Hickenlooper did too. It was the 19th debate he’s skipped since joining the Senate race six months ago.
Hick’s excuses have run out.
“Scheduling conflicts” don’t explain his decision to disrespect so many students, seniors, veterans, and climate activists, among other audiences. Scheduling conflicts didn’t stop him from jetting off to Texas today for another fundraiser.
There’s a more obvious explanation for Hick’s absence from the campaign trail: his handlers back in DC told him to buy the nomination while answering as few questions as possible. That’s not just insulting; it’s dangerous.
How are we going to beat Cory Gardner with a candidate unwilling to defend his own record or face his constituents?
Colorado deserves better. We deserve a senator who shows up.
That’s why we’re asking you to donate $19 to our campaign right now—$1 for each of the debates Hick’s skipped.
Andrew Romanoff led the Democrats in Colorado to our first majority in 30 years by traveling across the state and fighting for the values we share. That’s exactly what he’ll do in the Senate.
Colorado needs a leader we can count on. That’s Andrew Romanoff—without debate.
