John, the GOP is plotting once again to make MASSIVE cuts to Social Security funding.

For over 88 years, Social Security has lifted more people above the poverty line than any other program in U.S. history. It's played a central role in improving the quality of life for California's African American community and is a sole source of income for many. 

For those reasons and more, Barbara Lee has been an outspoken advocate for Social Security throughout her career – culminating in her work on the Social Security Expansion Act. This act would expand benefits by $2,400 and fund the program for the next 75 years without raising taxes for working families.
