I don't know if you're anything like me, but toward the middle of August, I start looking for that first, perfect leaf that signals summer is ending and autumn is beginning.
I've always loved the fall - the rich colors, the crisp air, the downright COZINESS of it all. It's not too hot, it's not too cold, you don't have pollen raining down on you triggering allergies, you aren't inconvenienced by the weather...to me, it's the perfect season.
There's nothing nicer than curling up on an autumn day with a mug of creamy coffee, a
purring cat, a good book, and birdsong coming through the open windows.
Of course, in North Carolina, we're none too brisk yet. The weather is still summery but since last week's storms, it's cooled off enough that you can at least take a walk at some time other than 7 am without sweating through your clothes in five minutes. We've been in the lower 90s, which is downright comfy after the summer we've had.
Now that I've finished my new book, I'm able to relax and spend some time looking for fall leaves in my neighborhood. I don't expect many yet, but it's a treasure hunt I do every year during the first weekend of September.
Speaking of September...are any of you going to Prepper Camp at the end of the month? I plan to be there and I'm really looking forward to learning all I can! And if you happen to see a chick with lots of tattoos and long brown hair, it might be me! Say hi because I'd
love to meet you!
