John,
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Homelessness, Cori Bush just reintroduced the Unhoused Bill of Rights, which provides a blueprint for the federal government to permanently end the unhoused crisis by 2027.
The legislation calls on the Department of Health and Human Services to declare the unhoused crisis a public health emergency, and calls for rigorous federal investments into affordable housing initiatives, homeless assistance programs, and wraparound services that will keep people permanently housed.
With rising rental costs rapidly outpacing wages, more and more families are forced out on the streets, where they are criminalized and dehumanized. Cori understands this urgency firsthand because she has been unhoused, living in a car with her two children.
Please read Cori’s email below, then sign on today to become a grassroots co-sponsor of her Unhoused Bill of Rights, which affirms the dignity of unhoused people and lays out how we can secure housing as a human right.

Two years ago, Cori led her fellow members of Congress in a 5-day action to extend the federal eviction moratorium as it was set to expire. During their 4 nights and 5 days on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, she negotiated with the White House and Congressional leaders, and succeeded in reinstating the ban on evictions and keeping 11 million people in their homes.
But as Cori has said, we must do more than prevent evictions. We have a housing crisis and skyrocketing rents, and our work won’t be done until we guarantee housing as a human right for every person in the country.
In solidarity,
Team Cori

John,
I know what it’s like to be unhoused, living in a car with my two children. And I don’t want anyone else to experience that trauma and pain, which is why I’m working relentlessly on housing justice in Congress.

But we must do more than prevent evictions. We have a housing crisis including skyrocketing rents and increased homelessness, and our work won’t be done until we guarantee housing as a human right for every person in the country.
That’s why I have reintroduced the Unhoused Bill of Rights, affirming the dignity of unhoused people and laying out how we can end the unhoused crisis by 2027.

This is urgent: Rising housing costs continue to rapidly outpace wages, forcing more families out on the streets. We have the power and the money to guarantee housing as a human right, and now we need our budgets to reflect our values and priorities.
The Unhoused Bill of Rights provides a blueprint for the federal government to permanently end the unhoused crisis by 2027 with holistic, health-based, and non-carceral solutions.

Can you help demonstrate the public support behind the Unhoused Bill of Rights by signing on as a grassroots co-sponsor today?
Thank you for taking action in support of our unhoused neighbors.
With love,
