Democrat Political operative and South Florida Tax Attorney Lawrence Caplan has filed a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s ability to run for President in 2024. Caplan cites Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, and is alleging that Trump’s “involvement” in January 6th, 2021 disqualifies him from the ballot.
It is worth noting that the 14th Amendment’s “disqualification clause” was created in response to the Civil War, and it was only established as a means to bar individuals who joined the Confederacy from ever serving in state or federal office.
