Iowa’s Republican AG, Brenna Bird, has halted her state’s program that provides sexual assault survivors reimbursements for emergency contraception and abortion care. It’s shameful, and a powerful example of why we need to elect more reproductive rights champions to our state AG offices.

Sexual assault survivors deserve compassion and support from their government. They deserve an Attorney General who will focus on prosecuting their assailants, not policing their bodies.

It’s unacceptable that Republican AGs treat their constituents with this level of cruelty and disregard. That’s why we’re working around the clock to elect more Democratic AGs who will fight to protect survivors and their reproductive rights.
