Friends, this has been a tragic weekend.

First, we were stunned by the violence in El Paso, where a gunman
opened fire in a shopping center and killed more than 20 people,
injuring another 26. Less than 24 hours later and hundreds of
miles away, another gunman killed 9 people in Dayton.

30 families in two different communities are grieving and
struggling to understand a senseless tragedy -- and all the
while, Mitch McConnell is sitting on two separate bills that
would go a long way toward protecting our communities from gun
violence.

I'm calling on all my supporters to make their voices heard: Tell
Mitch to call the Senate back from recess and do something to end
gun violence.

McConnell has offered his prayers and says he's "horrified" by
these tragedies. But we know that thoughts and prayers aren't
enough to end the violence.

The House has already sent two pieces of legislation to the
Senate to expand background checks, including a bill I
cosponsored to close the loophole that led to the the shooting at
Mother Emanuel AME right here in Charleston.

Now it's the Senate's turn -- but Mitch doesn't want to bring these
critical bills to a vote.

Click here and tell Mitch McConnell: If you're really horrified,
do something!

I am heartbroken for the El Paso and Dayton communities. My
thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families
-- but I know that's not enough to stop this from happening
again.

Thank you for joining the call to action,

Joe
