The 2020 Census, a count of everyone living in the U.S., will significantly impact all of us over the next 10 years. Join The Center and RiseOut in promoting full participation to ensure a fair and accurate count.
Census data determines how much funding each state gets for critical programs like housing assistance and medicare, as well as how much political representation we will have in Congress. If New York State is undercounted, our communities risk getting less than we truly need.
For example, in 2016, New York State received about $73 billion in federal funding as a result of Census data. But an estimated 16 million people were not counted, or were miscounted, in the 2010 Census. If we’re all counted accurately this year, it would improve our state’s ability to provide services for New Yorkers who need them.
Your pledge to #MakeUsCount sets the stage for a more inclusive future, not just for you but for everyone in our community.
Thanks for all you do,
