Fellow Conservative,
Next week, the Senate returns to Washington DC to take up the issue of funding the federal government before the October 1st deadline. The week after, the House of Representatives will also return to take up the same issue.
This spending fight is the key to fighting the policy priorities of Biden and the Left. Congress has the power of the purse to restrict and redirect appropriated funds that the Biden administration is using to push a radical economic agenda, opening up America’s borders, and weaponizing federal agencies and departments to go after YOU.
Reviving Prosperity
Part of the American dream is the promise of economic opportunity. The American economy is made possible by the broad assurance that economic freedom will be protected. Meaning you can afford to purchase a home, choose what car you want to drive, and build some savings for a rainy day.
“Bidennomics” is that rainy day. It’s washing away the American dream for far too many Americans. Since Biden has taken office, his backwards economic agenda has failed to deliver the economic “relief” it set out to do. Americans were sold a false bill of goods—wages are stagnant, costs are up, and economic uncertainty is high. This week, a local bank teller here in D.C. told one of our team members that “the economy is just not good right now.”
Washington’s out-of-control spending accelerated after Biden took office, during the “Covid era” of spending. This higher level of spending created inflationary pressures that are eating away at fixed incomes, and pushing 61% of Americans <[link removed]> to live paycheck to paycheck. This is not the American dream.
Conservatives understand that to get inflation under control, spending must be controlled first. Current spending levels spiked in the wake of Covid-19 lockdowns in an effort to prop up the economy. This pumping of money into the economy devalued the dollar and must be reversed to stop the bleeding.

That is why Congress must cut spending to fiscal year 2022 levels.
Heritage Action has put together a digital toolkit that explains what Congress must do to rein in the size and scope of Government.
>>>Read the toolkit HERE <[link removed]> and tell Congress to stop the spend trend.
And this spending fight needs to be seen in the greater context of the failures of Washington. It’s insane for Congress to expect Americans to support more spending for failing programs, while the real issues remain unaddressed. For instance, the border is open and under the control of the cartels. Americans deserve solutions in exchange for their tax dollars!
No Border, No Deal
You know it, and I know it; Biden has moved border security to the bottom of his priority list. Or perhaps, he’s moved keeping an open border to his #1 priority.
Since Biden’s inauguration, over 7 million illegal migrants <[link removed]> have crossed into our nation’s borders from over 160 countries. This past month <[link removed]>, families illegally crossing the border reached and all time high while Border Patrol agents made over 177,000 arrests along the Southern border, up from 132,652 in July and 99,595 in June.
Recently, news broke <[link removed]> of a human smuggler with ties to ISIS who was caught after smuggling over a dozen Uzbeks into the United States. The smuggler was arrested, but not all of those who he snuck in have been located, and it is unclear how many more have entered the country before the operation was uncovered.
This story highlights the state of collapse that the border is in and the needless national security risks that an open border creates.

No federal spending plan should be passed unless significant border security provisions are included. Again, conservatives are the only ones who have a plan in the form of HR 2 - The Secure the Border Act <[link removed]> – which House Republicans passed in May.
Depoliticize Federal Departments and Agencies
Finally, conservatives must insist that the Left’s infiltration and weaponization of federal departments and agencies come to an end. Biden’s DOD has circumvented Congress and illegally started using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions for servicemembers and their families, providing the travel and lodging necessary to acquire one.
Meanwhile, recent reporting revealed that a quarter of active-duty service members suffered from food insecurity in 2020. A major reason for this is lack of sufficient pay to cover all necessary expenses. So instead of paying the men and women who defend our freedoms a living wage, the Biden administration’s priorities are focused on terminating the lives of future Americans.

Sen. Tommy Tubberville of Alabama has taken a stand <[link removed]> by blocking the approval of more than 300 <[link removed]> military nominations and promotions. This is a courageous effort and his fellow Republicans should make every effort to defund the DOD’s pro-abortion policy. This is a winning issue for conservatives and Sen. Tuberville’s stance is widely supported <[link removed]> by Alabama voters.
>>>Call your Senator <[link removed]> and tell them to support Sen. Tuberville’s efforts to depoliticize the DOD.

Sentinel Coffee with Rep. Scott Perry
This past Monday, Heritage Action hosted an event for Pennsylvania Sentinels where Representative Scott Perry (PA-10) met directly with constituents and then joined our weekly Sentinel Strategy Call to discuss three of the Left’s latest attacks:
- The un-American weaponization of federal law enforcement to selectively harass conservatives
- Biden and DHS Secretary Mayrokas’ abandonment of the southern border
- The infusion of left-wing political priorities into our nation’s military
Thank you to Rep. Perry for taking the time to join us, and thank you to all the Sentinels who showed up.
