Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, I hope each of you are enjoying the start of the Labor Day holiday weekend. As we enjoy this time off, let us remember to celebrate the achievements and contributions of hardworking Americans in every community. I want to share a few highlights from my week in the district: On Tuesday, I was thrilled to welcome Mitch Landrieu, Senior Advisor to President Biden and White House Infrastructure Coordinator, to Gwinnett County. This was an excellent opportunity for me to convene local elected officials and regional transportation stakeholders with an administration official to talk about how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is making needed investments in the growth and progress of our community. Thank you for coming to the district, Mitch! To read more about his visit, take a look at some local press coverage below: AJC: Biden adviser, McBath talk infrastructure investments in Gwinnett Atlanta Voice: Landrieu talks infrastructure expansion in metro Atlanta Gwinnett Daily Post: Gwinnett and federal officials say infrastructure funding helping with wide variety of projects in the county Pictured above: Rep. On Wednesday, I visited the OFS Norcross plant to witness firsthand the operations of one of the leading manufacturers in our community. OFS works to make optical fiber and fiber optic cable, connecting people and businesses near and far. The Biden-Harris Investing in America agenda is championing manufacturers like OFS which are on the leading edge of technological innovation and provide good-paying jobs right here at home. It was wonderful to see OFS's work up close! Pictured above: Rep. McBath tours the OFS Norcross plant. This week, the Department of Health and Human Services announced the first ten prescription drugs for which Medicare will be able to negotiate lower costs, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. The average annual out-of-pocket costs for these drugs were as high as $6,497 per person in 2022. Hundreds of thousands of seniors in Georgia will benefit directly from the lowered drug costs that Medicare will negotiate. To learn more, read here.
