John,

Last week, in Jacksonville, FL, a gunman took the lives of three Black
people in a racist, white supremacist attack.

This event was enabled by Florida's weak gun laws and amplified by its
governor's hateful rhetoric and attack on marginalized communities. And
now yet another community must heal, rehabilitate, and rebuild its sense
of safety.

John, the best
time to take action against gun violence was yesterday. The second best
time is right now. [ [link removed]- ]Add your name to our petition to urge Congress to

Gun violence is an epidemic — and communities across the country are
begging for our help. Instead, MAGA Republicans are loosening gun laws and
endangering our communities.

Make no mistake: Extremist rhetoric from the far-right is fueling violent
attacks like the shooting in Jacksonville this weekend. Florida's lax gun
laws only make it that much easier for violent individuals to arm
themselves and cause harm.

It shouldn't be easier to buy an assault weapon than buy tickets to a
movie or a concert,
John. And by putting pressure
on those with the power and moral obligation to protect the people, we can
work to ensure events like Jacksonville never happens again.

There's no debate: Bold action to prevent gun violence cannot wait. [ [link removed]- ]Add
your name to our petition and urge Congress to pass common sense gun laws,
ban assault weapons, and ensure the safety of our communities and our
futures.

Together,

Pramila Jayapal
