I don’t need to tell any of our Republican brothers and sisters that our current President is dangerous and a disaster. In so many ways Joe Biden represents the worst of America – big expansive government, picking winners and losers, constraining freedoms, promoting a culture of death and confusion. In 2024 we can choose courageous and bold leadership, a leader who will defend liberty and expand freedoms and a leader who can build consensus – we have all that in Ron DeSantis. That’s why I, and other Kansas Legislators and state officials, have chosen to get behind Ron DeSantis for President with our time, our reputations, and our cherished resources. He is worth our support. America needs a thoughtful Republican who is willing to be tough, thoroughly conservative, and bring new voters to the polls on election day. No one else standing for the nomination in our great party has done what Ron DeSantis did in Florida. Through conviction and a convincing argument about education freedom DeSantis moved the vote in ethnic minorities back where it belongs. To the party of liberty. DeSantis took on the lockdowns in bold and thoughtful fashion. No state in America better preserved freedoms than Florida. What do we need in our national leader? DeSantis has shown us. No other candidate for our party’s nomination has led with boldness while expanding our base. His 20% victory in the governor’s race stood as a bright light in an otherwise disappointing mid-term. It isn’t being mentioned by the media because it is terrifying to the Left. We don’t need what Ron DeSantis is promising to do. We need what he HAS done and WILL do if nominated. DeSantis went into the first debate with the strongest favorable opinion rating of any of the candidates and following the debate 67% of voters said they were considering DeSantis for President, 6% points more than Donald Trump and more than 20% points better than any other candidate (Washington Post, FiveThirtyEight, and Ipsos Poll). DeSantis is on the rise and is the viable competitive candidate to take on the left. According to the same poll, DeSantis’ favorability rating is the highest among all the announced republican candidates at 72%. No one else is campaigning in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties. No one else has won a popular election in the state #1 in net-migration, #1 in new business formation, #1 in education while expanding the education freedom our nation so desperately needs. No one else is a veteran. Now is the time for us to leverage our influence to support Ron DeSantis. The Great American Comeback is possible if we pull together. That is why I am supporting Ron DeSantis for President of the United States. ~ State Representative Susan Humphries     Guest Column Amber Waves of Grain Thoughts From the Tractor Cab by Tim Franklin Goodland, KS Farmer Kansas farmers aren’t unlike other business owners. We work hard to preserve the ability to keep working in a profession we love. Our minds are preoccupied by daily tasks, goals, concerns, but always, hope. Hope for rain, for yields, for being able to plant next year’s crop, for favorable prices, so that one day we are in a position to pass along the family business to the next generation. We farm, knowing we are not fully in control. In fact, so much about farming seems out of our control. Most days, my office looks a lot like a tractor cab; and as I drive back and forth across my field, my corner office view is one of cars speeding along I-70. And my mind wonders. Do passerby’s look back at the tractor wondering how fun or (not) easy that big machine would be to drive? I wonder if all my irrigation sprinklers are running? As I watch the storm clouds to the west roll in, I wonder if I need to purchase hail insurance this time- which way will that storm move? Will my daughter’s softball game still be played tonight? If it rains will I shut the irrigation off? I pick up my phone and look at the moisture probes to see if we have room to hold an inch of rain, should that storm develop. Beep beep beep, I’m once again at the other end of the field and it’s time to turn around. Senator Bob Dole once said “Things are going to get better. Be optimistic.” And I believe farmers live by this. Every morning we get up full of optimism for the day ahead. Even when checking a field after a hail storm, we are thankful for the rain and hoping next year will be better. The future for agriculture is bright. Prices are up, real wages are down, and despite the lies and gaslighting from Biden, American families are being left behind because of his failed economic agenda. What you need to know: Today’s jobs report offers no comfort to the average American who is being squeezed by Bidenomics. The U.S. economy added just 187,000 jobs in August. The last three months have been the worst three-month stretch for job growth since the pandemic hit, with an average of just 150,000 new jobs each month since May. Biden’s economic agenda is decimating Americans’ finances – the average middle-class household has lost over $33,000 in real wealth in just the past year. U.S. average gas prices currently sit at $3.82 per gallon which is more than $1.40 higher than when Biden became president. American families are seeing higher prices for virtually everything, and they know exactly who to blame: Biden and Democrats. Just 36% of Americans approve of Biden's handling of the economy according to an AP-NORC poll. A majority of Americans believe the economy is getting worse and 59% disapprove of Biden’s handling of inflation according to an Economist/YouGov poll. 80% of Americans say the economy is in bad shape according to the latest Fox News survey, with the share of voters feeling dissatisfied with how things are going in the country up 17 points since Biden took office. The bottom line: Republican leaders at every level are working hard to deliver economic prosperity for the American people. Voters need to elect strong Republican leadership to get Americans' finances back on track so that everyone can achieve the American Dream.     Conservatively Speaking by Mike Brown Chairman Kansas Republican Party   New Covid Concerns Masks, Shots and Lockdowns The events of 2020 sparked a widespread debate about the effectiveness of masks and social distancing measures in curbing the spread of Covid-19. Many argue that the year proved these measures ineffective and farcical, labeling social distancing as arbitrary and masks as futile. As we confront another wave of the virus, concerns over its potential danger are again rising, and while it's true that COVID-19 can lead to severe illness and possible death, living a free life is also a risky proposition. It's important to acknowledge other factors contributing to mortality rates, including the flu, common cold, accidents, and other natural causes. The inevitability of death is a universal truth, often lost in discussions that focus solely on the pandemic. Earth is a hostage situation, and there will be no survivors except for the souls in Heaven. The sentiment of "If I die..." versus "When I die..." is a stark reminder of life's fleeting nature and a human being's inability to deal with the reality they will someday die of something. We are all on this path. But this is good news, too, in that through this step, we enter Heaven and eternal life. Nevertheless, the notion that precautions such as masks, vaccinations, or physical distance hold influence over fate contradicts the data supporting their efficacy. Individual choices are indeed paramount and essential. The foundation of American society rests upon cherished liberties. “Temporary” modifications and actions for the greater good are not the role of government but rather rest solely with the individual citizen. Emphasizing personal responsibility while supporting those who opt for vaccines and masks is a reasonable stance. In a worst-case scenario, the best option is to keep the vulnerable at home while the virus works through the population toward herd immunity (yes, I said those words! Gasp!). This acknowledges diverse opinions and approaches without dismissing the potential benefits for specific at-risk populations of certain measures. As the saying goes, “Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to go now.” Resisting governmental overreach is a tenet of democracy, and it's natural to value one's autonomy. Yet, discussions should focus on measured responses that protect lives while preserving freedoms. As we navigate ongoing challenges, it's important to remember that safety and freedom can coexist when approached thoughtfully. Open dialogue and respectful consideration for differing viewpoints will prove crucial as we continue to grapple with the evolving landscape of the realities of a virus and the Left’s wishes for Covid Pandemic 2.0 If you want to wear a mask, get a vaccine or stay at home, then, by all means, do so. However, I reserve the same rights and freedoms to not wear a mask, get a vaccine or stay at home. My rights and freedoms will be respected because those God-given gifts do not end where someone else’s fear begins.   Biden Impeachment What Are We Waiting For? The question of whether to move forward with the impeachment of Joe Biden is obviously a politically charged issue. Impeachment is a significant constitutional process. Under normal conditions, it would be important to approach impeachment with careful consideration and evidence-based analysis, however since the Democrats have used it as a political weapon vs. a legal process, now turnabout is absolutely fair play. And it's time to be done “playing nice”. Statemanship should always be the first recourse, but that ship has long-since sailed. Typically, the decision to pursue impeachment is a matter of political strategy and adherence to the rule of law where both political parties evaluate the evidence objectively and make a determination based on the facts. In the previous administration, the impeachment process was wielded as a sharp political tool rather than as a mechanism to ensure accountability and uphold the Constitution. The obsessive-compulsive vendetta against Donald Trump is a dangerous two-way street. Now the Republicans must respond in kind. While political discourse can be heated, a commitment to civility and respect was once paramount and crucial for maintaining a functioning democratic system. Escalating partisan tactics have further polarized the political landscape and likely hinder productive collaboration however, the Democrats have gone way too far in choosing to do as they pleased, like petulant children, when they had control of Congress and the White House. They ran rough-shod under Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer’s failed liberal leadership and the White House is manned by #46 who is perpetually lost and confused. None of these circumstances is an excuse. The Democrat Party and its voters have failed America, and put us on a path of financial, cultural, military and moral bankruptcy. It’s high-time to push back harder than they pushed when they had control. The decision by Congress to initiate an impeachment inquiry process should be made immediately. Republicans endured the merciless raid on our rights and our freedoms not to mention the debt these fools piled upon us and the many generations down the road. This level of malice and dereliction of duty requires thorough investigation, full Republican partisan support, and adherence to all established legal standards. It's important for all parties to consider the long-term consequences of their actions and exhibit self-control when things appear to be going too far. The Democrats failed intentionally on every decision with reckless disregard for what is anticipated to happen when the shoe is on the other foot… and apparently the Democrats never contemplated that shoe on a foot kicking their keaster. Hard lessons are coming for the Left. And they deserve all that they get for their total lack of self-control. Start the investigations and impeachment proceedings now.
