Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced the award of $90 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds aimed at strengthening mental health and addiction crisis services statewide. [ [link removed] ] A total of 37 regional projects will receive funding through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

?Across Ohio, people of all ages and their families are seeking care in record numbers for substance use and mental health concerns,? said Governor DeWine. ?I am proud of the work we are doing in Ohio to make services more visible, accessible and effective for all Ohioans faced with mental health and substance use crises. By expanding access to a full array of crisis services, more Ohioans of all ages will receive the care they need in their local community so that they can recover and reach their full potential.?

Lt. Governor Husted speaks at Google announcement in New Albany

Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted joined leaders from Google to announce the company will spend an additional $1.7 billion in investments to their data centers located in Central Ohio.?

"Google has once again chosen to invest in Ohio, and this is great news for our state. This adds to the list of tech companies that are looking here to grow their operations," said Lt. Governor Husted.?

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted announced the approval of assistance for four projects set to create 943 new jobs and retain 160 jobs statewide. [ [link removed] ]?During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $58 million in new payroll and spur more than $175 million in investments across Ohio.??

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced the availability of approximately $111 million to support Ohio tech-based companies.? [ [link removed] ]

Two new funds - the Ohio Early Stage Focus Fund and Ohio Venture Fund - will help increase the amount of early-stage capital invested in Ohio technology-based companies, accelerate the growth of high-potential companies, and create a climate that supports the development, retention, and attraction of technology companies in Ohio.??

?These programs will address gaps in early-stage capital as companies mature and new startups emerge, as well as for underserved communities that face barriers to accessing capital,? said Governor DeWine. ?By increasing access to funds, we are ensuring that technology companies have the support they need to thrive in the heart of innovation.???

"Venture capital isn't just an investment; it's a catalyst for innovation and a testament to the power of bold ideas here in Ohio,? said Lt. Governor DeWine reviews school bus inspection process in Mentor

Governor DeWine reviews a school bus inspection at the Mentor Public School Bus Garage.

Governor DeWine announced 14 individuals who will serve on his newly formed Ohio School Bus Safety Working Group.? [ [link removed] ]

Governor DeWine announced the creation of the working group last week following the death of 11-year-old Aiden Clark, a Northwestern Local School District student who was killed when another vehicle collided with his school bus in Clark County.

"There is always more that can be done when it comes to the safety of children, and I believe we have an obligation to take a holistic look at the safety of our school buses," said Governor DeWine. "This group's review will be thorough, focusing on many different aspects of transportation safety."

Overdose Awareness Day logo

Governor DeWine observed Ohio?s third annual Overdose Awareness Day. [ [link removed] ] Established in 2021 by?Senate Bill 30 [ [link removed] ], Ohio Overdose Awareness Day aims to raise public awareness and remember the lives lost to the ongoing national opioid epidemic. It also helps usher in September as?Recovery Month [ [link removed] ].

??Overdose Awareness Day is a day when we can come together as a community, remembering those who have lost their lives due to overdose and celebrating those who are in long-term recovery from substance use disorders,? said Governor DeWine. ?Overdose Awareness Day is ultimately about hope.?

Governor DeWine ordered flags to be lowered at half-staff to raise awareness for Ohio Overdose Awareness Day.

"In honor of the lives lost to overdose and in order to recognize and raise awareness for Ohio Overdose Awareness Day, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as the Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the State of Ohio from sunrise until sunset on August 31, 2023."

Governor DeWine, Lt Governor Husted, Ohio Department of Development, and JobsOhio announced that Ohio has been ranked No. 1 in the Global Groundwork Index [ [link removed] ] by?Site Selection [ [link removed] ]?magazine based on an analysis of job creation, capital expenditures, and strategic infrastructure development from 2019 through July 2023.

"Ohio ranks No. 1 in the Global Groundwork Index because we recognize the importance of making strategic investments today that will impact Ohio's future," said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. "This winning formula includes preparing large-scale sites for industrial development, fortifying infrastructure statewide, nurturing our skilled workforce, streamlining regulatory processes, and collaborating with private industry. Ohio is committed to maintaining this momentum with support from $1.5 billion in our operating budget dedicated to new investments in industrial sites, water infrastructure, brownfield redevelopment, building demolition and site revitalization, and rural industrial parks."

Lt. Governor Husted, Director of the Governor?s Office of Workforce Transformation, announced the fourth round of the Industry Sector Partnership (ISP) Grant opportunity. [ [link removed] ] The program funds partnerships that help prepare Ohioans for the workforce while meeting the needs of job creators and local economies.

?Our existing Industry Sector Partnerships are effectively uniting educators and businesses, strengthening the workforce in communities throughout Ohio," said Lt. Governor Husted. "The recently approved state operating budget has enabled us to broaden the reach of these partnerships to additional communities within Ohio. This expansion will result in an expanded list of opportunities for Ohioans to concentrate on preparing for the growing number of high-paying jobs that lie ahead."
