September is National Suicide Prevention Month
All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness. #BeThe1To is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline?s message for National Suicide Prevention Month.
Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are at risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. It is important for people who provide care to vulnerable children and adults to recognize possible warning signs and risk factors, and learn how to support a person who is experiencing suicidal thoughts.
If you are in crisis call 988. The 988 Lifeline provides?24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.
