In a series of increasingly unhinged tweets, our part-time senator Ted Cruz is claiming that "leftists are trying to control every aspect of your life." Check it out below: 👇
LOL, 😂 there's *a lot* to unpack here, John but if you don't have the time to read this email, can you chip in $5 so we can show Ted Cruz the 🚪 to retirement?
The person behind this email wants you to know:
- There's a stark difference between Joe Biden — a moderate Democrat — and what Ted claims to be "leftists." According to Ted's definition, anyone who doesn't blindly subscribe to his far-right agenda is "a leftist."
- Unlike Ted and other Republicans, we saw true leaders across the country rise to the challenges presented by the pandemic and enact policies meant to protect and save lives. Meanwhile, GOP leaders actively went out of their way to disregard public health guidelines for the sake of “the economy” (whatever that means) and let COVID-19 spread unchecked. We’re seeing the consequences of this dereliction of duty in the disproportionately high number of COVID-19 deaths that came from red states.
- Republicans insist they’re “defending parental rights” while claiming the left wants to “indoctrinate” kids. Yet, the GOP seems to be doing a lot of the things they claim their opponents are, between enacting book bans and serving a white-washed, “alternative” version of history to our children. We’re calling BS.
- Lastly, how can so-called leftists be trying to control every aspect of our lives, when Republicans like Ted Cruz actively going out of their way to take a sledgehammer to our democracy by stripping away our rights and freedoms and are seeking to impose their unpopular, far-right agenda on the rest of us by any means necessary.
We’re happy to have corrected the record for Ted because he’s clearly shown us that he doesn’t think before he tweets.
But while it’s easy (and even fun) to call Ted out, we know that more is needed. Texans deserve a senator who will not only think before they tweet but a senator who is committed to working in our communities’ best interests. Not some far-right flamethrower.
