[ [link removed] ]Ilhan for Congress
This morning, I woke up with a feeling of immense gratitude for all of you who are a part of this progressive movement.
Because of the outpouring support of so many people in this grassroots community, we were able to reach our August fundraising goals.
When I was a young child, I was a refugee. My family was forced to escape civil war in Somalia and took sanctuary in a Kenyan refugee camp for four years.
If you had told me back then that I would someday be a member of Congress in the United States — nevermind become the first African-born member of Congress — I wouldn’t have believed it.
But here I am today, fighting for progressive change with the greatest community of supporters helping to build this people-powered movement every step of the way.
I am so grateful for your trust and support, Takiyah.
We still have so much work to do, but I am confident that with people like you on my team, we will be able to create a better and more just future for all in our nation.
In solidarity,
Ilhan Omar
Before you go…
If you didn’t have a chance to make a contribution to Ilhan Omar last month, we hope you’ll consider making a donation today. We have an important FEC deadline at the end of September, and it is going to take all of us chipping in what we can, whenever we can, to keep fighting for the progressive values we believe in.
