The Home Learning Environment Coalition have now launched the second wave of the Hungry Little Minds Campaign.
This campaign will see the launch of 6 apps published on the Hungry Little Minds website. [ [link removed] ] These are part of the governments drive to help parents make informed decisions about the use of technology in creating positive learning environments at home. These apps are designed to support parents (and practitioners) in engaging young children in learning and have a particular focus on early literacy, language and communication.

Scam Call Alert!
We have been notified that a county nursery setting who was contacted by phone last week from someone claiming to be from the "Court Enforcement Team" saying that the setting owed some money to HMRC.
Here is a link to an HMRC scam article which sounds very similar to the call received , so please be on your guard and do not give out your bank details or make any rash payments to an unknown person:*[link removed]* [ [link removed] ]

Premature Infants' Skills in Mathematics
University of Leicester have created a new free e-learning resource, designed to try and help improve educational support for children born preterm. Research shows that two to three children in an average sized class are likely to have been born preterm, before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Compared with children born after a full term pregnancy, children born preterm are at increased risk for cognitive, motor, attention, social-emotional problems and additional support needs, and for poor performance at school. Research has also shown that teachers and other education professionals currently receive little training about preterm birth and its effects on childrens learning and development. That is why this e learning has been developed.
The resource is completely free to use thanks to funding from childrens charity Action Medical Research and can be accessed at: www.pretermbirth.info [ [link removed] ]
